Stones&Bones is an educational podcast that talks about fossils and gemstones. In the podcast, we'll go over specific species of fossils and gemstones, including under the radar fossils, like the mosasaurus, but also more well-known fossils like megalodons. In this podcast, we'll talk about a variety of things, from the prices of the fossils and gemstones to where they come from, and what color they come in.  There is a dark side to the fossil and gemstone trade however, people faking fossils and gemstones. There have been countless times where I've gone online and just looked at a fossil or gemstone and just knew it was fake. In all of my podcasts, I'll tell you if the certain fossil or gemstone I'm talking about is faked often, and if it is, then I'll tell you what to do. For example, sometimes people take regular quartz and heat-treat it to make it smoky quartz. Smoky quartz is more valuable than regular quartz by quite a bit, so people do this often. What you can do to notice this fake is by holding it up to the light for a minute or two. The smoky will slowly start fading away, leaving just regular quartz.
